How AI Works with Plotheus

Plotheus never charges you for AI. Here's how the model works.

What is "Bring Your Own AI"?

Plotheus organizes your story world into structured context. When you're ready to write with AI help, you take that context to your own AI account. We never store your AI account credentials, never charge for AI usage, and never sit between you and your AI provider.

How to use AI with Plotheus

1. Build your world in Plotheus

Create characters, places, relationships, and events. Write your scenes in the editor. Plotheus tracks everything.

2. Create a Job

Go to the Jobs tab and create a new job. Select which chapter you're working on and what you need help with. Plotheus automatically gathers all the relevant context.

3. Copy the context

Plotheus prepares a structured summary of your world state up to the current chapter. Copy it with one click.

4. Paste into your AI

Open ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or any AI assistant. Paste the context and start writing. The AI will know your characters, their relationships, and everything that has happened so far.

Which AI can I use?

Any AI that accepts text input works with Plotheus. Popular choices include:

ChatGPT (OpenAI) - free tier available, Plus for longer context

Claude (Anthropic) - free tier available, excellent for long-form writing

Gemini (Google) - free tier available, large context window

Any other AI chat - Copilot, Mistral, local models, etc.

What does it cost?

Plotheus itself is free. AI costs depend on your provider. Most offer a free tier that works well for short sessions. For longer writing sessions or larger context windows, paid tiers typically cost $10-20/month. You pay your AI provider directly.

Advanced: Direct connection (MCP)

Some AI tools support the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Connect one to your story's MCP endpoint with an agent credential (Settings, Agents tab) and it can pick up jobs, read the assembled context, and write prose on review branches you approve. The AI still runs entirely on your own account; Plotheus only serves your story data and never sees your AI provider credentials. Copy-paste above remains the simplest path.
